Think about Lyra and Will plus the abandoned children they meet. Also think about Mrs Coulter and other adults. Age is a little bit weird in dark materials as the main characters are children. The other world that Lyra and Will have went to, all the adults are being taken away and losing their whole humanity.

Gyptians were an ethnic group
