Music video: Introduction

 1) The key conventions of music are movement, performance, narrative, visual effects, promotional devices, editing/sound, and mise-en-scene.

2) Intertexuality is referring to another piece of media in one piece of media. In other words, referencing something else within a music video/film/game.

3) 1981

4) In 1981, MTV launched; MTV was the first ever big platform dedicated to music, and it showed popular music videos at the time. They were a big part of the industry at the time as most music videos were designed to promote a band/artist's music.

5) Nowadays, music videos are posted online to sites like YouTube. MTV isn't really a popular or convenient thing anymore, as it's much more convenient to just go online and watch/listen to what you want instead of sitting through stuff you aren't interested in.
